I understand that there has been a long standing offer of carparking by Kepplewray which seems to have escaped Evening Mail reports. Apparently the quality of this alternative site was initially challenged by unqualified criticism, which Kepplewray demonstrated to be unfounded. Worth checking? Could resolve a lot of problems.

Ill winds of change?
Decisions on a carpark in Broughton must surely emanate from the Duddon Parish Council for agreement and endorsement by Kendal. Noteably, this was not achieved even before offcomers appeared on the scene.Failure of the DPC to achieve a successful democratic decision for many years, has resulted in an attempt to do so by the The Tourist Information Centre, without any mandate to do so. Their prime members comprise Broughton offcomers, seemingly intent upon ignoring the past and the rights of way, including that owned by a much respected local family for over 300 years.
This should not be allowed to happen, Broughton is too good to spoil in this way.
