Plenty of room in the car park at this inn

TRAFFIC JAM: There can rarely be a minute in the day when a car, van, tractor, bus or lorry can’t see seen passing the High Cross Inn at Broughton having struggled up the steep climb from Duddon Bridge. Traffic wasn’t much of a problem when this picture was taken around 1913. Horse and cart was the preferred way to get about and journeys tended to be measured in hours rather than minutes.
